Lobate Leaf Earrings

Custom-Designed Piece - Not For Sale

Inspiration:

Every year during the autumn months, the oak trees in Austin become bespeckled with browns, golds and greens as the chlorophyll supply dwindles and the trees prepare for winter cold.

Autumn in Central Texas is my favorite season of the year; the light becomes golden and short and the ground is littered with dying leaves. I spend many moments each autumn staring at the leaves and pondering the process, and out of my appreciation came these earrings.

These earrings are extremely light and comfortable and quite literally glow while you wear them. Due to the process of creating these earrings, each piece is unique and cannot be exactly matched.

Process:

Starting with a 1 inch by 1 inch sheet of silver, 24 karat gold is fused to its surface and then the material is manipulated by a rolling mill until the sheet becomes very thin. Then the gold is removed using a flex-shaft, the sheet is textured using organic material (in this case coconut husk) and then shaped into the final form.
